Stopped in for a birthday dinner and overall the place was great. Furniture is a little dated and the atmosphere very loud.
But all in all it's a great place for a meal and drinks not overly expensive but good food always cost that bit extra.
Table service was really great all the staff made us feel very welcomed. Food was hot and come out reasonably fast given it was pretty much a full restaurant.
During quieter times this place would absolutely shine.
Thanks to all the staff for the effort tonight from myself and all our guests.
Definitely recommend it, although not flashy and despite being an old building with old vibes to it, putting that aside the room service was great. Coming back to the room after work and the place is spotless and shower amenities being replaced every day, and the pub at ground floor had a great vibe to it; perfect for late nights.
I ordered eggplant parmigiana and was looking forward to it but unfortunately the eggplant was almost raw, hard to cut and very bitter. Sadly It wasn’t prepared properly. The vegetables however were lovely and my two friends meals were very good. Will order steak next time
We recently stayed at the Murray Bridge Hotel. We requested the older rooms which would be quieter than they recently renovated rooms. The rooms were old, but they were spotless and huge! The towels were lovely clean new white towels with a good toiletries provided. Our rooms were quiet and we slept like logs! We had an early dinner at the bistro and it was lovely. The staff are very helpful, friendly and welcoming. A beautiful old country style pub.
Were looking forward to a nice dinner out before our drive back to Victoria.
Unfortunately the lamb shanks were very dry and also the other meals were def not at restaurant standard.
Also we had a little accident where my husband spilt some wine on 2 of my daughters nuggets. We asked for two more and the lovely bar staff said it shouldn’t be a problem but would check with the kitchen. Came back and advised us it would be $4 for the 2 nuggets. We paid as my daughter was very upset about it.
After some thought it made me furious. The meal with 5 nuggets and chips and a drink was $10 and then we were charged $4 for 2 nuggets!!!
It’s not about the $4, and we get it was our fault. But in our 11 years of having kids and going to restaurant numerous times a week and with numerous spilt food, drinks, ice cream etc we’ve never had this happened. Spoke to the bar staff again about our concerns and they agreed and said unfortunately it’s not up to them it’s up to the head chef.
Our concerns were passed on but we were advised that the head chef did not care about our concern.
It’s all about customer service and this has just left a very bad taste for us especially as the meals were not good either. It’s a cozy place and the bar staff are lovely but not worth it!
Luckily this was the only bad experience on our SA trip!
Giving 2 stars instead of 1star only coz of the bar staff and the ambience but still not worth it.
We didn’t stay at the hotel, but it was recommended as a good pub meal…but food was expensive and nearly inedible. Lamb shanks were more like mutton and half boiled in water on one side, and dry on the other. Onion was boiled too. Pork belly was crumbed and deep fried like a Pluto pup. Would be a great place, nice ambience and friendly staff
, except for the chef.
Had dinner last night here, was absolutely disgusting in 21 years I have never ever sent a meal back or not being able to stomach eating it. I ordered the lamb shank and mash potato which the meat was gross, dry and resembled leather I had one bite and couldn’t eat it. The mash potato was instant I assume and the sauce resembled luke warm water. Being the only one with a full plate left when the waitress asked I was honest and said I didn’t like it, asked if a refund was possible if not I would grab a takeaway container and take it to go as everyone was finished their food. The waitress staff were very nice though and offered to remake it and put it in a take away container. Gave it a second shot when home and yeah same thing, dry, no flavour and definitely not worth $30. The other food looked ok though!
Great pub, friendly staff, meals ok. We stayed for 2 nights in a deluxe ensuite room upstairs, room had a comfortable bed and was very clean. Our issue is the music from the front bar till 1/2am, seems to get louder as the evening went on, this was not a cheap room and we got very little sleep, music goes back on at 7.30am. That was the only negative, we know it's a pub, we get that, lesson learned and won't do pub stays again.
